November

 New Eagle Scout:

Last night Shane completed his Eagle Scout Board of Review and is now an Eagle Scout. Congratulations Shane!

No Meeting this week:
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankful:
Troop 136 is blessed to have so many great families in our Troop!
We're thankful for all the Troop 136 Scouters and parents who volunteer their time to enrich the Scout experience for all of our sons, and for believing in the value of Scouting for these boys!

Enjoy your holiday!

Air Force Museum Campout Recap:
We have 19 Scouts in attendance and eight adults.  Dominic and Andrew completed their requirements for part of the Cooking Merit badge.  We had a lot of great bonding together at the museum, the hike and enjoyed a very nice facility that kept us warm and dry.

Sweatshirts will be ordered soon:
If you have not seen this link over the past two or three emails, here is the link again to sign up if you are interested.  I will be working to get these ordered on Monday 11/29. I am hopeful that we might have them by the 12/14 meeting, but if not, they will be available in January just in time for the cold weather campouts in January and February. Any orders received after Sunday 11/28 at midnight will not be part of this order and will have to wait another year.

Thunderbase sign up due on 11/30:
If you are interested in going to Thunderbase, plan to sign up before November 30th at 7 pm.  I will be making a payment during the meeting on November 30th for everyone that is signed up.   The cost of Thunderbase is $40.  Plan for an amazing time with so many activities that you will have to choose between several at the same time.  I have been to the two previous Thunderbase events and both have been amazing!  Here is the link to sign up.

We will be camping at the First Presbyterian Church on 12/10.  We will have pizza ordered on Friday night at about 6:30 pm and Cracker Barrel will be at about 9 pm.  We will also have breakfast on Saturday morning.  I know we have a few Scouts that might be working on their Cooking Merit Badge for Desserts on Friday night, so this might be a great opportunity to do so.  Plan to have some fun playing card games or electronic games.
Note:  Whatever you bring on Friday night must go with you to Vertical Adventures.  There is a group that will be a group using the facility on Saturday morning at 10 am, so we will not be able to leave items at the church for you to pick up later.  This includes sleeping gear as well.
We will plan to leave the church on Saturday morning at 8:20 am to be at Vertical Adventures just before they open at 9 am.
We will be in the Activity Uniform the entire weekend.  Plan for fun and come ready to have fun!

MVSR Merit Badge College Campout on January 21-23 and on February 18-20:
Based on the feedback we had from the Scouts at the PLC, we will camp at MVSR during January and February in the cabins.  A lot of the Scouts wanted to participate in the Merit Badge college.  I will rent the Straker building that has heat and electricity for the weekends in January and February.  Here is information about the Straker building that we will stay in for both weekends.  It can sleep 16 in the rooms and there can be a lot more Scouts in the main area on cots. This will give us room to eat and have fun during the winter months.
If you want to go, you will need to register for the merit badge clinic on your own. It costs $30 to register for the merit badge college and you may choose up to three merit badges.  There are a good number of Eagle Scout merit badges available to choose from at this event.  The cost for the campout each month will be $30($15 for cabin and $15 or food). Here is the link: 2022 MVSR Merit Badge College
There are three weekends for these merit badges: January 22 8:30 am -1:00 pm, February 19 8:30 - 1:00 pm and March 19 8:30 - 1:00 pm.  We will camp for the first two weekends, but since we have a campout already scheduled in March, those that are participating in the college may carpool to the event the last month to finish off the merit badges.
Here is more information about the three merit badges they can sign up for at this merit badge college:  Merit Badges included: Cooking (limited capacity), Communications (limited capacity), Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Personal Management, Personal Fitness, Family Life, Emergency Preparedness, Geocaching, Forestry, Soil & Water Conservation, Journalism, Indian Lore, and American Heritage.

Meeting Plan for 11/16:
Here is the meeting plan created by the PLC:  11/16

New Senior Patrol Leader:
David S. has been elected as the new SPL.  Congratulations David!  He is working on his PLC list and will finalize it tonight before we have our Patrol Leader Elections.

Air Force Museum Campout(11/9):
I will be working on vehicle assignments and will be asking the new SPL for help with creating the Patrols that will be cooking together.  We will share this later tonight at the meeting. We have 18 Scouts in attendance and will have six adults.  Dominic and Andrew will be taking care of the food for the Patrol Cooking.  One of the items that Dominic and Andrew asked for help with was any food allergies.  We only know of a peanut allergy, so please let us know if you have another allergy.  They will be creating assignments to help with food over the weekend.

Patrol Leader Elections (11/16):
Patrol Leader Elections are today!  You will elect your Patrol Leader in your Patrol Meetings.  Be sure that your Patrol knows that you are interested in running and don't forget to ask a friend to nominate you if you are interested in taking a leadership role within your Patrol.

Sweatshirts sign up due on 11/16:
I have looked for a fleece hoody, but this might be a sweatshirt jacket with no hoody.  I am not able to find a reasonable priced red microfleece hoody. Here is the link to sign up if you are interested.

Invitation to Daughters of the Revolution Presentation on 11/17 at 6:30 pm:
The church has asked how many will be attending tomorrow night.  I need to get them an answer by tonight.  Sorry for the short notice.  I was not aware they were asking for RSVP and they were not, but they wanted to know how many were coming so they could plan.  I will be asking at the meeting tonight to see how many people are coming to this event.
