Meeting tonight

The meeting tonight will begin at 7 pm tonight in Class A Uniform. Here is the meeting plan:

Kroger Rewards
We have received our quarterly statement from the Kroger Community Rewards Program. Please go on-line and retrieve your statement, then turn this into Mr. Fuller to get the money transferred to your Scout account. If you are not currently participating in this program and would like get started please let ask for details.  Mr. Fuller would like for you give him the account statement by June 23rd or by the Court of Honor in June.

Summer Camp
We paid our summer camp registrations last week, but they will be making a decision about summer camp for Chief Logan by the end of this week.  I am not for sure when MVSR will be making their decision for sure.  Most of this will be the result of what the governor has in mind.  There is a strong indication that he will give some recommendations regarding summer camp this week.  As soon as I know that the camp plans have changed, I will let you know.  Summer camp may not look or feel the same as in previous years, but if at all possible, I would like to have your Scout experience a fun week of camping this summer.  I will do everything in my power to make sure it is an experience they will remember for many years to come.

Virtual Merit Badges
On Wednesday, there will be another opportunity to register for merit badges.  I would ask that you send me an email and copy your parents asking if you can take the merit badge.  "Mr. Freeman, may I take the _______________ merit badge offered with the online virtual merit badge college?"  I will respond stating that you can take the merit badge and copy Mr. Wright in my response, using his new email.  Please do not wait to do this until after you have signed up.  You can also ask for several merit badges and then let us know which one you are taking or were able to register for after you sign up.

Here are the merit badges they are offering next week:  Chess, Citizenship in the Nation (Eagle), Fingerprinting, Personal Fitness(Eagle), Reading, Scouting Heritage, Stamp Collecting, Sustainability (Eagle), Theater, and Weather.

5/31 - PLC Meeting at 3 pm to 5:30 pm
5/31 - Committee Meeting @ 6 pm
6/23 - Court of Honor @ 7 pm
6/28-7/4 - Summer Camp Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation
7/5-7/12 - Summer Camp Chief Logan Reservation
7/18 - Annual Planning Meeting for PLC Members
*Not sure when we will be able to have normal meetings, but hopefully at some points this summer we can resume normal troop meetings.
**If we are able to resume normal troop meetings by August, we might be able to have our outing with bicycling, paddle sports and fishing weekend.

Camp tonight

Hi troop!

Who is ready to earn a night of camping?

The PLC has chosen a start time of 8:15 for the campfire tonight.  There is the link for the meeting in your email

Shane has asked that you let him know if you are attending.  He plans to deliver smores to those that let him know.  It will include Hershey's, marshmallows and graham crackers.  His email is in the email message as well
Please copy me or your parents on the email to Shane.

To earn a night of camping, you must post a picture in the band app tonight and tomorrow morning.  Remember to check the forecast and get it approved by your parent before you camp out tonight in your backyard.  You must be outside in the tent all night for it to count for a night of camping.

See you tonight!

Secret Trip, Summer camp, Parent Meeting, Physicals, and camp info

Hi Troop 136!

Secret trip canceled:
With the stay at home order being extended through the end of May, we will not be able to go on our Secret trip that we had planned over Memorial Day Weekend.  We will ask the PLC in July at our Annual Planning Meeting if they want to add it to the calendar next year.  Thanks to those who helped plan it so far.

Summer Camp:
I have an update about summer camp.  It looks like both the MVSR and Chief Logan camps will be open for summer camp unless things are canceled by the governor for June activities.  There will be some major changes to the way we operate at camp.  These changes include items for the facility and the way we operate as a troop.
We will discuss at our committee meeting our plans for the troop.    If you are a parent and want to visit the online committee meeting on Sunday night at 6 pm, please let me know and I will send you a link to the meeting.

Parent Meeting for summer camp:
We will have a parent meeting for summer camp after our normal troop meeting on Tuesday, May 5th has ended.  This is an opportunity for you to ask questions.

Here are the forms again and I have adjusted the dates for the money to be submitted for summer camp.  Both of them are due May 14th.  I will be at the church that night between 6 and 7:30 for you to drop off the form or complete a form and pay for summer camp with cash or check.

Physicals:
You will need to schedule a physical between now and summer camp.  Most everyone will need a new physical this year. There will be no extension of the medical form from last year. Once you have the medical form for summer camp, please let me know and we can plan to meet at the church for me collect the form.  I do not anticipate that anyone will be able to get their physical between now and May 14th, but we can arrange for you to meet me at the church when you do have the form.  I will need this before we leave on Sunday, June 28th.  In the MVSR presentation, it states that Dr. Woolery has agreed to do physicals at his office for scouts who cannot get in to their personal physician.  However, he is in Zavesville.

MVSR summer camp information:

Chief Logan summer camp information:
Good Evening Unit Leaders,

What a summer this is shaping up to be! The SKC Camping Department has confirmed that our summer camp season is slated to proceed as scheduled. Members of our admin team will be calling you in the coming weeks to check in with your unit, help address your questions, and assist you in your planning.

Earlier this week, Simon Kenton Council released some preliminary updates to our health and safety protocols in light of precautions needed to minimize the risk of COVID 19. You can find the official memo by clicking HERE.
Some additional announcements to share with you:
  1. The Discount Rate deadline has been extended to May 15th in recognition that some families and units need more time to make decisions and collect funds.
  2. Full refunds will be available to any unit or family that needs to cancel their registration up to 2 weeks prior to the start of your week at camp.
  3. Family night will, unfortunately, not be taking place this year due to the need to minimize visitors to camp during the week.
As we have more announcements to share with you, we will send out additional e-mails.  At this time, we anticipate very minimal changes to our program offerings.

Finally, please make sure your registration is up to date to reflect accurate numbers for your unit so we can plan to best serve your unit when you arrive at camp. This includes filling out the name and gender of each participant. If you have any questions regarding your registrations, or need any assistance making adjustments to your registration, please e-mail the SKC Camping Department
We are very excited to see you in camp in just a couple months!

Yours in Scouting,
Drew Thiele, Camp Director
Daniel Robey, Program Director
Arie Leffel, Head Commissioner
Kyle Dues, Commissioner
Brendan Weise, Commissioner
Roy Niedzielski, Ranger
