Softball Tourny, Tuesday Meeting, upcoming events

Good evening!

Softball Tournament Cleanup:
I just want to say thanks to those scouts and adults that helped with the cleanup.  Saturday morning and evening went without too much of an issue.  However, Sunday night was much longer than anticipated.  I am glad you stuck around for the end of the event.  I appreciate your time.  Here is the list of scouts that participated:

Saturday morning July 27th (1 hour):
Zach Brown  (1 hour)
Jonathan Carney  (1 hour)
Sam Carney  (1 hour)
Shane Fuller  (1 hour)
Alex Royce  (1 hour)
Will Wisenbarger  (1 hour)

Saturday evening July 27th (1.5 hours):
Zach Brown (1.5 hours)
Jonathan Carney (1.5 hours)
Sam Carney (1.5 hours)
Carter Freeman (1.5 hours)
Shane Fuller (1.5 hours)
Dominic Rose (1.5 hours)
Alex Royce (1.5 hours)
Will Wisenbarger (1.5 hours)

Sunday evening July 28th (3 hours):
Zach Brown (3 hours)
Jonathan Carney (2.75 hours - arrived at 6:15)
Sam Carney (2.75 hours - arrived at 6:15)
Carter Freeman (3 hours)
Shane Fuller (3 hours)
Alex Royce (3 hours)
Will Wisenbarger (2.25 hours - arrived at 6:45)

Based on my calculations, there were a total of 37.75 hours of work completed by the scouts.  Once we receive the $500 check for the work completed, each scout will receive $13.25 per hour work ($500 divided by 37.75 hours = $13.25 per hour)

Weekly meeting:
As I am preparing for a trip back to the World Jamboree this week, I want to thank Todd for filling in for me while I am away this week.  Here is the meeting plan that was created by the PLC.  Patrol Leaders, be ready to discuss the items you were assigned last week.  In case you do not remember, hint, look at the meeting plan!

Put-in-Bay Trip September 6-8
If you are interested in going on the Put-in-Bay trip on September 6-8, please let turn in the form this week.  This is the last week you can sign up for the trip!  Turn in the form to Cindy Freeman.  Once the form is turned in to Cindy, I will purchase any additional scout and adult tickets for the trip in September.

Torrent Falls Trip August 9-11
If you are interested in going on the Torrent Falls trip on August 9-11, please turn in the form by the beginning of next week.  Please give to Cindy Freeman this week while I am absent.  We need to finalize the trip next week during the troop meeting.  This is why I am asking that the permission form is submitted by the beginning of the meeting on August 6th.  Tuesday, August 6th at the beginning of the meeting is the latest you can sign up for the trip!

PLC Meeting on Sunday, August 4th @ 4:30 pm
I know it seems like we just met, but that was for the yearly planning meeting on July 20th.  We will be meeting again to review the month of August and plan the September meetings.  Be at the church between 4:30 and 6 pm.  Patrol Leaders, you must have at least one person from your patrol at the meeting.  If you are not able, check to see if the Assistant Patrol Leader can be at the meeting.  This is your time to plan your meetings.

Committee Meeting on  Sunday, August 4th @ 6:00 pm
Adults - please plan to come to the meeting on Sunday night beginning at 6 pm at the church. I think Todd would agree that you are more than welcome to attend to know more about the behind the scenes planning each month for the troop.  We have a fun time and you get to know more about things about the troop.  For example, you get to learn about a mystery trip that is in the works for next year.  You need to attend the meeting to learn more about all of the fun things the adults are planning next year!  See you at the meeting at 6 pm.

Scoutmaster Newsletter
When I come back from the National Jamboree this week, I will prepare and send out a Scoutmaster newsletter for the troop.  I hope to have it done later this week or at least by the Committee Meeting next Sunday.

Upcoming dates

Good evening!

Storage and shed cleaning:
We will meet at the church on Saturday at 9 am to begin the storage and shed cleaning.  We need about 5-6 scouts and a few additional adults.  I know that Roland, Ron, John and myself will be there.  Plan to bring a water bottle.  It will be hot for those helping with the shed.  I think we can finish the shed in less than an hour, so we will move inside to get out of the heat.  Here is a link to sign up to help with the cleaning of the shed and storage area.

PLC Planning meeting:
Our PLC will meet on Saturday afternoon to plan our activities for the next 18 months.  Please have your son look at the link below and complete it for us to use at our meeting on Saturday.  It will be beneficial to us as we plan what the scouts want for the next 18 months.  Here is the link to sign up for activities that your scout wants to do over the next 18 months.  I have asked for an email address for you to receive your selections and your son can change his selections before Saturday.  You will also be able to see the charts and selections for everyone in the group.

Softball Tournament:
We have been asked to help with the cleanup at the softball fields again this year.  We will meet at the softball fields at on Saturday morning between 7 and 8 am, on Saturday night between 8 pm and 9 pm and again on Sunday between 6 pm and 7:30 pm.  Here is the link to sign up to help.  Your scout can earn money for his account depending on the number of scouts and the time they are able to help during these times.  I will need one adult with a truck to help with the collection of trash on Saturday and Sunday night.  If you are willing, please let me know.

Franklin County Fair:
Jonathan Carney asked for me to pass along that he would like to have some scouts at the Franklin County Fair tomorrow.  I got the information last night after our meeting was over, but wanted to pass along the information to you in case you were already going there and wanted to help.  He said that you can meet him at Gate 5 at 9 am tomorrow morning in full scout uniform.  I know it is too late for many and information like this need to be shared with me sooner so that I could send it to the troop during the previous week.  I wish you luck with the event tomorrow Jonathan.  I did see Sam on TV tonight with the bunnies at the fair!

Scouts returning tomorrow!

Good evening!

We are getting showers and heading to bed really soon.  The scouts have been amazing this week, but they are ready to come home.  Many of them will be much more confident and independent during their time at summer camp.

“A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in the meeting room.” ― Robert Baden-Powell

The closing ceremony is at 10 am.  We will be on the road by 11 am at the latest. We are stopping at Tom's Ice Cream Bowl in Zanesville.  I think this stop will be about 45 minutes.  Each scout will be able to get some ice cream and eat it as a short break before we head on home.
I am predicting that we will arrive between 1:30 and 2 pm.  I will send out an e-mail when we are leaving Zanesville with an approximate time of arrival at the church.  It will take about an hour to get home from Zanesville.

Have a great night.  Good night!

Parent Night at MVSR

Hi!

We are having a blast here at MVSR.  We have avoided the rain until tonight, so we had our lake games in the dining hall.  It was fun, but a lot of people still got wet.  I have the videos and pictures to prove it!

If you are planning to come tomorrow for family night, please plan to arrive at 4:30.  I will meet you at the admin building and will bring you to camp.  The scouts normally arrive back around 5 pm.  We will have the flag lowering by our troop tomorrow night followed by dinner.

We will be talking as a troop tomorrow night if we want to continue to tradition of going to another camp for two years or to come back to MVSR again.  There are lots of pros and cons for discussion about camp.  I look forward to the conversation.  See you tomorrow night at 4:30 pm!

Below is the address to camp.  It takes about 1.5 hours to get here.  Plan to leave at about 3 pm to get here by 4:30.
