Mulch sale this weekend!!!

Parents and Scouts:

Just a reminder that we will be having our Boy Scout Troop 136 Mulch Fund-Raiser Order Day this Saturday, March 8.
We will meet at the Creekside Subdivision at 9:30 am – Rain or Shine [See attached map for meetinglocation.- Same as previous years]

We will have a training session first prior to going door to door so don’t be late.

Make sure you sign in when you get to there. [That is how I know who gets money for the event]

We will be done by noon or before.

Please be ready to go door to door and take orders. This means:

1. Class A uniform [Dress accordingly for the weather]
2. Have a Pen for taking orders
3. Maybe a water bottle
4. For those of you that live in Creekside and would like to ride your bike for this activity that is great, but you will have to have your bike helmet on as well.

I have attached an OrderForm for your own use. If you or your family members would like to order mulch please use this form attached.
If you order Mulch and live in Grove City we will try to deliver for you if you need us to do so.
If you take orders for someone who is outside of Grove City area then you will have to provide delivery.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Just to make sure that everyone knows how the funds will be dispersed, here is how it works:

1. All orders are put into the troop orders to fill.
2. All hours of the scouts are tracked for working on this event.
3. All profit on this Fund-Raiser will be divided by the total scout hours worked to determine an hourly rate. [Profit includes funds above total costs of putting on this event]
4. The Scouts will be paid this hourly rate for hours recorded on our time sheet.

Remember –this is a great way to earn your own way to summer camp.

Sincerely,

Kirk Bohanan

Summer Camp Registration - registration due Tuesday!

Dear Parents and Scouts:

Well - with a few emails to council – I have procured the 2014 Camp Falling Rock Summer Camp Program Guide.  This outlines the merit badges and other programs that will be offered this year.  Please review and start to think about which merit badges and programs you will work on this summer.  Review the pre-requisites and start working on them as you have time.

For the first year scouts, plan to participate in the Brown Sea program and maybe Swimming and First Aid Merit badges. If you have questions about what to take please ask myself or one of the other Leaders.

For Scouts with a few years of summer camp under their belt that would like to try something different, look at the Rock Ranger or Foxfire programs.

Use the summer camp registration form to turn in your Early Bird fees which is due this next Tuesday.  Cost for Early Bird due now is $25.00.  The total will be collected by May 1st – which will be an additional $225.00 for a total $250.00.  If you miss the Early Bird sign-up then it will cost you $270.00.

If you have an idea on what you want to take then put it on the form.  If not just turn in the form and we can add later.

Sincerely,

Kirk Bohanan

Info for the caving trip this weekend

Parents and Scouts:

This letter is for those that are on the list to go caving this coming weekend.
If you are going – here is a list of things that will make the trip enjoyable for you.
1. sleeping bag and pad.
2. 2 light sources – one headlight is required
3. clothes for crawling in the cave.  coveralls works best – but not insulated.  Boots are good for this – old ones.
4. pack your gear in a gear bag if possible.  pack packs are not required on this trip and will be harder to stow since we will not be taking the trailer.
5. Please wear Class A uniform on Saturday Morning.  once there in the cave we can change [Class A to travel home as well]
6. bring a sack lunch.  we will be stopping along the way to eat.
7. there is a gift shop at the cave.  also a snack bar – so plan accordingly

I will go over these items tomorrow night.  If you have any question please let me know.
I am also going to need adults going to help transport.  we have a total of 40 going.  If you can drive please give me that info tomorrow [number of total seatbelts that you can comfortably use –including the driver in count..
