Bring your Scout book tonight, PLC meeting, and GRR....MULCH!

Bring your scout books tonight!
Jason Wright has volunteered to help as our Advancement Chair going forward.  One of the ideas that he had was to bring your scout book with you tomorrow night.  He will be updating Troopmaster using your scout books.  We will be taking pictures of the books and ranks.  This will help create a visual record that can be used to help recreate a book that was lost or destroyed.

PLC Meeting on Sunday at 5 pm:
I will not be at the PLC Meeting on Sunday afternoon, but there will be two adults at the meeting on Sunday afternoon at 5 pm.  If you are part of the PLC, plan to be at the church just before 5 pm.  Andrew will start the meeting at 5 pm.  We will use the TV again to broadcast the meeting plans.  Use this time wisely to create the meetings plans that will be shared with the troop.

Mulch Information from Jeff Colborn:
Feldkamp Chiropractic has asked our troop to clean up their flower beds prior to mulch delivery day.  We will be working this Sunday, April 7th,  from 2:00 to 3:00 (or until we are finished) at 4227 Hoover Road.  We are looking for 4-6 youth (and as many adults that want to help!) to work on this project. We are estimating this to be about a 1 hour project.  I will have a sign-up sheet at the troop meeting tomorrow night.  Please contact me with any questions.

Court of Honor at 7p

Good afternoon!

Senior Patrol Leader Andrew Elliott has a few words:
"As you may know, we are having a court of honor next week. Before the Court of Honor we will be having a pot luck.
If each person can please make one of the two dishes assigned to your patrol, that would be great. Please bring them all next week on January 29thto be enjoyed. Each dish should only be a few servings.
Dragons will be making a main dish and a side dish.
Blackhawks will be making a main dish and side dish.
Blue Blazes will be making a main dish and a dessert.
Leadership Patrol will be making a main dish and dessert.
I hope this email will help for next week.
Thank you, Andrew Elliott"

Looking forward to seeing you next Tuesday - weather permitting! Have a great weekend!

January Campout

Troop:

Just a reminder that the January Campout Permission slip is due TODAY.  We are planning to go Camp Manatoc in Peninsula Ohio on January 18-20.  We will be going to Brandywine Ski Resort for either Snow Skiing, Snow Boarding, or Snow Tubing.  Cost for these different optionsvary by age and type of activity you wish to do.  All Skiers and Boarders MUST also rent a helmet [$10].  There is also an option for ski /  boarding lessons [$10].  [Sorry Mr. Betz, there are no Tubing lessons that can be taken… LOL!]. You must also fill out the tubing release form or the ski rental form, depending on which you choose.

We will be sleeping in a cabin [Legion Lodge]; only heated by a wood stove and fire place. It does have electricity but - Plan for cold.  There are only 24 spots in this cabin so any more that this can still go – but will have to tent camp, which is a great experience for those who are prepared. The first 24 who wish to go will get their option on cabin or tent – so be early to get this turned in on Tuesday [but be nice to Mr. Baughman when you turn in your form!] . He will mark your form as to the number turned in so we will know who get a spot in the cabin, or not…

Click here for the Permission Slip.  You will need to turn in these on Tuesday.  Parents – we will need you on this outing as well for transportation and two deep leadership.  We must have at least 2 adults at both the ski lodge for skiing and boarding and at least 2 for tubing.  If we don’t have these numbers we will have to only chose one of the areas and everybody will do that event; either [skiing and snowboarding]  OR [snow tubing].  SO – Parents come and help out and have fun at the same time.

***** ALSO This Tuesday the PLC will be holding an indoor campfire as part of the monthly theme – “Skit Month”!  It should be a good evening and I am looking forward to seeing the new skits that each patrol has come up with for the night.  It will be our last meeting of the year as 12/25 and 1/1 we will not meet.

That’s all for now  - we will see you all tonight.

Sincerely,

Kirk Bohanan

Troop Elections and campout this month

Troop:

Items for this upcoming week to note.  Please read below.

1.      Our Troop Patrol Leader Council [PLC] will have its Fall Elections on this Tuesday night, 11/6 at our regular troop meeting.  All scouts are encouraged to be there and participate in this activity.  Scouts that are first class and above are asked to consider running for positions of responsibility of Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, or Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.  Second class scouts may run for Assistant Patrol Leaders. Other positions will be available that are not elected positions but appointed ones.  This includes Scribe, Quartermaster, Librarian, Webmaster, Historian, OA Representative and Chaplains Aid. Remember your  troop needs you to be there to leader it along. It is a boy lead organization and what you put into this is important in it success.
2.      We have our backpack trip coming up this next weekend – 11/9-11/11.  All those wanting to go need to have their permission slip into the troop by 11/6.  You need to plan for your own food and cooking on this outing.  As for tents,  you can use your own or barrow one of the troop tents.  ANY gear that you need from the troop must be made know on Tuesday so we can get it ready.  [this includes tents, tarps, backpacks, cooking equipment, etc.]
3.      For those going on the backpack trip, we will have a short shake down hike.  You are encouraged to bring your pack with all necessary gear [no food] to confirm you are ready.   It will just be a ½ - ¾  mile trek around the local church area to see how your back feels and if you have any issues with your gear.  This is a great opportunity to check out and make sure your prepared.  DON’T forget to WEAR A BELT ON this OUTING, it will keep your pants from falling down while you hike!  Believe me – it’s an issue and you need a belt.
4.      There will be an announcement regarding the upcoming change in the scoutmaster position.  Please plan to be present.

That is all for now – see you tomorrow night.

Sincerely,

Kirk Bohanan
