June

 Hello Troop 136,

I wanted to thank everyone for all the support at the Court of Honor.  I think it was a great success with a lot of rank advancement, merit badges, and awards presented.  I especially wanted to thank Jim Baughman for the slideshow and putting the program together,  Robin Bernhard for the cake and the plates, our MC, Leighton Edwards, Pete Forbes for his kind words and Jackson Bernhart for his heartfelt speech.  Well done everyone!

We have a lot of upcoming events coming up:

1. David Sweet has the first day of his Eagle Scout project scheduled for Saturday, June 17th.  He has posted a sign up genius on the Band app for anyone who will be able to help with the project.  Remember, the hours count service hours toward the next rank.  Here is that link for anyone who wants to help David:

2.  The troop has scheduled a day trip to Hocking Hills on June 17th as well.  The SPL, Jackson Bernhart is working on a poll on the Band App to gauge interest from troop members for this event.  Be on the lookout on Band.

3.  Camp Ransburg is coming up quickly.  For those going to Camp Ransburg, we will be departing from the First Presbyterian Church at 7am on Sunday June 25th.  We will need to Pack personal gear into the troop trailer.  The PLC has decided to pack troop gear prior to that Sunday morning so that we can get a quicker start.  The trip will take 4 hours without stops and we will need to stop at least once for gas.  We will be able to arrive between 11am and 1pm, however, we need to be ready to begin check in at 1pm.  I plan to depart the church at 7:30 and arrive right about noon.  We will be able to take the trailer directly to the campsite to drop it off and then return to the main camp for check in.  We will travel in our Field Uniforms and everyone who plans to swim or do any aquatic activities will need to wear their swimming trunks under their uniform.  All participants will need a completed permission slip which we are currently working on, a copy of the complete medical form A,B1,B2 and C.  Adults will need to be registered with the Troop prior to departure and have up to date YPT.
For tents, we have two options:
1.  Scouts and adults can choose to sleep in canvas tents provided by the camp.  Each tent will have two bunks, each with a mattress.  I would encourage scouts to tent together in either a canvas tent or a personal tent.  Scouts must be within 2 years of age to tent together, including siblings.  Attached is a link so that you can fill out your preferences:

Please take a moment to fill out the spreadsheet.
I am also including a packing list.  The PLC will be working hard over the next several meetings to prepare everyone for camp.

There will be more information coming out but I wanted to get this out to everyone.

 Hi Troop 136!

Meeting tonight 5/2:
The meeting tonight will be spreading mulch for the First Baptist Church. The address is  3301 Orders Road, Grove City.  Please wear old clothes and arrive ready to start working.

Mulch Information from Jeff:
Scouts and Scouters,

I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for their help and hard work this past weekend.  It was incredible to see the amount of hard work everyone put into the mulch project!  This weekend we delivered 4,000 bags of mulch and spread 2383 bags.  We have 275 bags left to spread for 2 church projects.  We will spread the remaining 275 at future Troop meetings.

It was a very profitable year.  I do not have final numbers yet but tentatively our mulch profit is in the range of $10,000!  Mulch profits will be divided amongst the boys based on the number of hours they worked.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Jeff

 Hi Troop 136!

Meeting tonight 4/25:
The meeting tonight will be a normal night of activity.  Plan to prepare for the new Scout campout with learning some skills.  There will be an election of Patrol Leader. The New SPL, Jackson will be choosing his PLC and sharing those positions before the election for Patrol Leaders.  I encourage the Scouts to let their fellow Scouts know if they are interested in a position. We have a great positions of responsibility that you can be elected to and can help the Troop.

April

 Hi Troop 136!

Meeting tonight 4/11:
The meeting tonight will look a little different.  Since there are a lot of people that will be missing because of a Washington DC planning trip, we will plan to unload the shed, take an inventory of what we have and clean up the gear from the last campout.  I have asked Payton if we can wear our Activity uniforms (Class B) for this event tonight.  He will post on the Band app once he makes that decision.

Mulch:
Mulch signups were shared last week during the meeting.  Please see Mr. Jeff about the signups.  We will need a lot of Scout and family help the weekend of April 21-22.  If you have a truck and trailer or the ability to pull a trailer, we could use your help.

Summer Camp Costs:
With the Troop paying for the Camp Falling Rock with some of the Scouts not having money in their accounts, we will need to do something different for Ransburg.  The committee met last Sunday night and they have asked that you pay for 1/2 of the money for Camp Ransburg or else you will not be able to get the early bird discount.  This would be $250 by tonight, April 11th.  The rest could be settled after the mulch sale to help families offset the cost.  There will be no checks going back to families if they wanted to pay up front for the whole cost of summer camp.  Once you put money into the Scout account, you cannot withdraw it except for Scout expenses.

High Adventure 2024:
Since there was so much money going out for summer camp, we decided to wait until the end of May to ask for deposits for Florida Sea Base or Philmont.  There will be a $200 nonrefundable deposit to help with the down payment of the trip.  There will be a monthly payment schedule set up for those going on either trip.

Upcoming events:
"The Turtle" April 29-30:

Summer Camp Camp Ransburg: June 25 - July 1: ($500)
Scouts: Henry Ciocca, Jackson Bernhardt, Cooper Bernhardt, Leighton Edwards, Calvin Clasby, William Clasby, Zack Newcomb, Jake Newcomb, Joshua Savage, Nicholas Buzuleciu, Garrett Mays, Sawyer Mays, and Liam Blackstone.

Scouts: Henry Ciocca, John King, Jackson Bernhardt, Cooper Bernhardt, Stone Savage, Zach Newcomb, Jake Newcomb, Charles Holycross, Nicholas Buzuleciu, Brendon Rodriguez, Hunter Guay, and Gaving Guay.

March

 Hi Troop 136!

Mulch:
Mulch season is happening.  Here is the flyer again.
Summer Camp Payments:
You will need to pay for summer camp this Tuesday.  I will not register you unless you are paid for the summer camps.  Please work with Mr. Baughman to pay for the camp.
I will pay for the registration fees for both of the camps by the end of this week, March 31st.  This will allow those Scouts going to Camp Ransburg to be able to sign up for the merit badges in April.  This will also give you a discount for Camp Falling Rock.

High Adventure 2024:
Please see Mr. Edwards or Mr. Savage if you are interested in Sea Base.
Please see Mr. Freeman if you are interested in Philmont.  We will be collecting deposits to see how many people are interested in either high adventure trip.  A $150 non-refundable deposit will start the process.  The trip costs will be determined by the group going along with the dates.  The $150 non-refundable deposit is to say that you are interested in the trip in 2024. This will help us determine who is willing to go so that we can start the process.  You may give that deposit to Mr. Baughman.
Requirements for age for Sea Base and Philmont are in the links for each.
Please do this by the end of May.  This will allow us some time between the summer camp payments and this deposit.  This might also be the time the mulch sale is wrapping up as well so you might be able to use the money earned to help pay for this deposit.
Anticipated costs: between $1600 and $2000 per person.  This would include travel and maybe a side trip as well.  Your crew will help determine what you do as a group.

Next events:
March 31-April 2 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame visit and camp at Camp Manatoc:
We will travel to Camp Manatoc on March 31 and visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday. It was a fun event the last time we visited. Looking for another great time.

"The Turtle" April 29-30:
I need a permission form to register you for the event.  It looks like there are 6 Scouts and 4 Adults going on this trip.  Please submit a permissions slip so that I can register you for the event.  I don't want to register someone that does not want to attend since it costs $40.   Bring this Tuesday.
