Upcoming activities

Parents and scouts:

Here are a few reminders of upcoming activities.  The September newsletter will be sent out later this week.

1. Our trip to South Bass Island is getting set up.  We have about 20 spots left.  I will need parents to also go on this event for transportation.  If you wish to go, [parents or scouts] please get your permission slip[s] turned in tomorrow night if possible.  [click here]  The cost is a good deal.  The normal cost for this trip would be around $80.00, but the troop committee has subsidized this by only charging $50.00 per person. We will get all meals, tickets for local attractions and an event T-Shirt as well.   We will leave on Friday, September 11 at 1:00 pm and return on Sunday September 13 in early afternoon.  We only need to bring personal gear on this outing. All food will be provided by the camporee.  Please sign up tomorrow!

2. I am looking for help running our Dog Wash event on September 13th at the new Dog Park; It is the “Bark at Breck” event that will be held on September 13 from 1-4 pm.  We won’t be back from South Bass Island yet; and if you can’t go but still would like to work on this fund-raiser let me know – SOON! [like tomorrow night]

3. I will have sample hoodies for trying on tomorrow night for our new Troop Hoodies we are going to get for the scouts [troop provided].  Please plan to get your size turned into your patrol leader so we can get these  - target by 9/8/15 for this to happen.

4.  I will have sign up sheets at our meeting for those to help with the Hog Roast and Tag Sale -  Please plan to get signed up to assist!

5. Don’t forget to get those items saved for the Tag sale!  If you have any questions regarding the Sale please ask Kathy Bohanan at Bohanan.kathy@gmail.com

Thanks – that is all for now.

Tuesday meeting location

Parents and Scouts:

Just a reminder that this coming Tuesday we will have our Fishing night.  It will be at the First Baptist Church on Orders Road.  [Remember about the detour and access limitations on Orders Road.].  They have two ponds out front of their church, and they have allowed us to come and fish.  Please bring your own fishing gear and bait.  We will meet at 6:30 PM and go until 8:30 PM.

See ya there.

Help Jeremy's project this weekend and flag ceremony on Tuesday

Please see the note below from Jeremy.  To get his Eagle project complete he really needs assistance from the troop.  If you can help please plan accordingly.

ALSO – Our troop has been asked to participate in a flag ceremony next Tuesday Night at Grove City Hall – with a Town Hall Meeting with Senator Steve Stivers.  This is not a campaign event – just a town hall meeting that Congressmen Stivers is holding here in Grove City.  A GREAT opportunity for us to show what Troop 136 can do! With that said, I al looking for a flag ceremony contingent that can be at city hall by 6:40 PM on Tuesday to hold this ceremony.  This is a CLASS A uniform event I am looking for 6-9 scouts.  Let me know ASAP if you wish to attend.  We will be going back to our meeting after this ceremony.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Kirk Bohanan

Please forward to the troop.

I plan on finishing up my Eagle Project next week! We will be handing out flyers to the Creek Side neighborhood (same as mulch) to let people know we will be back around that Saturday to collect any food! I'll need a good amount of help both days, it shouldn't take that long on either day. We will be doing this in the morning, exact time is TBD. I will have a sign up sheet along with more information and details Tuesday.
Also, a big thank you to everyone who showed up to my last work day, couldn't have done it without everyone's help!

Use Kroger Plus Card for your family food purchases. A percent of your spending at Kroger on the Kroger Plus card will go into the Boy’s Scout Account.  The Scout Account can be used to pay for Summer Camp fees, Monthly camp-out fees, Troop Dues, Uniform expenses, and Troop related expenses that are approved by the Scoutmaster.

You can become a Den Chief – You must be First Class Rank and go through a training course. This course will be given August 26th at 7:00 PM.  This will count as a position of Leadership Responsibility, which is needed for the Ranks from Star to Eagle.  See Kirk for details.

The Tag Sale will be on the 19th of September.  It will coincide with the Arts in the Alley weekend activity [Hog Roast Too!].  Plan to bring items for the sale on Friday, September 18th for setting up the event. Remember that 75% of what you sell at this event will go to your son’s scout account. These items should already be marked and priced.  We will need both parents and scouts to work this event.  If you can sign up please let Kirk Bohanan know. There will be a email on this covering more detail in August.  Start now to collect those treasures you don’t need any more and have them ready to tag for the sale!

HEALTH FORMS from Summer camp are now on file for the next 12 months.   If you did not go to summer camp you should have at least Part A and Part B of the New Health Form submitted to the troop.  [Part C is the visit to the Doctor’s office]. This is important information that we take on our outdoor outings in case of an emergency.  Please help us by getting this information into the Troop. As any medications change please update Part A of your son’s form.  If you go on a BSA outing over 72 hours out camping then we have to have a Part C of the Health form on file.  PLEASE  MAKE A COPY AND TURN IN TO TROOP.  KEEP ONE FOR YOUR RECORDS AND JUST INCASE WE MISPLACE OUR COPY
