Nathan's Eagle project

Parents and scouts:

Here is another opportunity for us to help one of our scouts working on his Eagle project.  Help if you are able.

Thanks - Kirk Bohanan

To all Scouts of Troop 136,

Hi! Some of you may not know me yet. I am Nathan Boggan, recently moved from Troop 385 to Troop 136.

My Eagle Project is this weekend! We are working at Salem Heights Cemetery, at the corner of Alkire and Demorest. This cemetery needs restoration, such as landscaping and painting. This weekend we will be removing undergrowth (aggressive bushes, annoying weeds, and volunteer trees) which have been encroaching at the borders and pushing on tombstones. We will defeat them!

We will be painting a chain and post fence as well. At a later date, we may plant some trees to replace the unwanted stragglers we have removed.
Hopefully all the tear out work will be completed this weekend.

Here are the work dates so far:

Friday, Aug. 8:   4 pm — dusk.
Saturday, Aug. 9:    9 am — 3 pm.

When you come bring work gloves, landscaping tools such as hatchets and saws (qualified scouts), pruning shears, shovels, etc. Adults may want to bring chain saws or weed eaters. You may want to wear long work pants.

Food and drinks will be provided.

If possible, let me know you're coming, so I can better plan for food. But, if you fail to contact me because you're not sure yet, don't let that stop you from coming.

Looking forward to working with you and getting to know you better!

Tyler's Eagle Project

Parents and Scouts:

Please see the attached note from Tyler Straight – He needs your assistance on his Eagle Project.  Please assist if you can.

Thanks.

Kirk Bohanan
Scoutmaster Troop 136

    Hey everyone! Tyler Straight here.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who attended my Eagle Scout Project this weekend. While we were unable to work Sunday, the crew that arrived on Saturday did a magnificent job. We painted nearly everything we needed to, and we removed an impressive amount of gravel in our small four hour window. Everyone worked hard and were respectful, and I couldn't ask for any more than that.

To continue this good work, I will again be holding two work days this weekend, Saturday, July 19th from 8:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 20th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. behind Grove City High School at 4665 Hoover Rd. I similar equipment to last time, such as wheelbarrows, shovels, and rakes. I will not, however, need any painting supplies. That part of the project has been taken care of, and the gravel is our biggest issue. I will need at least ten helpers, and any more than that is greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in helping, please email me or call me at . Please include your name, contact number, and the dates you will be working. Let's get this thing finished!

Thanks a ton,

Tyler Straight

Tyler's Eagle Project

info about Tyler Straight’s eagle project this weekend.  Help if you can!

Kirk

Hey everyone! Tyler Straight here.

Thanks to everyone who was at the meeting last night and listened to my speech about my project, and an even bigger thank you to those who signed-up last night to help. I think that this project is really in good shape but, even though a few people volunteered last night, I still need more help. This project is BIG. I currently have four people signed-up for Saturday and three people signed-up for Sunday. I need quite a few more. This project will require a lot of labor to remove all the gravel from this almost 2,000 square feet large courtyard.
So, that being said, I need more scouts. If anyone can assist us on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., I'd greatly appreciate it. We need scouts who can bring shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, paint roller frames, and paint trays. Anyone who comes should also remember to wear clothes that can get dirty, and to wear gloves to protect their hands. This project will go a lot faster with increased help, and it will provide service hours to anyone who participates in it.
If you would like to help out with this project, let me know (you can contact Kirk Bohanan for my email address)

And, as a reminder, the project will take place on Saturday July 12th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., and Sunday July 13th from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. behind Grove City High School at 4665 Hoover Rd.

If there are any additional questions, e-mail me using the address above.

Hope to see you there!

Last note about Summer Camp

Parents:

With summer camp just days away – here is the last note I will send out. If your going to camp – please read

1. If you had issues on the physical form from earlier this week please get them resolved. I cant send your son to camp without this document complete and correct.
2. On Sunday – I will be taking a count of those for that are coming  for Parents night [Wed night] Cost is $6.00 per person and can be paid when you get to camp at the camp store.
3.  If your son is taking any programs or merit badges that are an extra cost [and have not paid for them yet] please give him money for that class.  Those include:
    a. Archery – $5
    b. Shotgun – $25 – extra for additional shots might be a good idea as well.
4. Make sure you have materials needed for all merit badge and program areas. A sling bag or back back that can carry water, paper, pen and books for classes would be great.
5. We will be camping in patrols – and the patrols in the same general area together.  With the exception of a an odd count in a patrol we will make this our tenting arrangements
6. Adults – I will only have 3 extra camp tents in the site for us to use.  I will be bringing the Jamboree style tents as needed for adults – if they wish.  Otherwise you can use one of the tent extra or bring your own.
7. Attached is a map of camp.  We will be in Pine Grove B; which is next to the parking lot as you enter the camp.  Please make a copy for your son to use at camp.
8.  I also have a final schedule for the scouts – see attached.  Give this also to your son.
9. Don’t forget the special diet needs form – if needed.
10. Don’t forget sunscreen and bug spray.

See you on Sunday!

Sincerely,

Kirk Bohanan
